~:Introduction:~
The term "motive" was not invented by a single individual, but rather evolved in the English language from French and Latin origins during the Middle English Period.
- The term is derived from the Latin term motivus, which means "moving" or "impelling", and the verb movers, which means "to move".
- Its earliest known use as a noun in English is recorded in the writings of Geoffrey Chaucer around 1390
According to me:-)
- Motive plays the role of the seed, which decides everything, in simple words, the beginning, while
- The environment plays the role of the soil in which we will put the seed and
- Habits play the role of resources required for growth.

=> On reading, Kenneth Burke takes "motive" to be an internal, private, mental state that impels an actor to perform an act, guiding and shaping the performance of that action.
That which moves or induces a person to act, or a consideration of reason, which influences, or tends to influence, a person's volition. A moving or inciting cause. That which moves or tends to move a person to a particular course of action; that constitutes a motive for action.
An Anecdote – Colonel Harland Sanders.
I bet most of us don't even know who he is and what he did.
He is the Founder of KFC(Kentucky Fried Chicken)
Born - 9th September 1890
Death - 16th December 1980
The man whose recipe of fried chicken was rejected 1009 times
I've only had two rules: Do all you can, and do the best you can
When Colonel Harland Sanders was at the age of 65 years old, he got a pension check of $105 per month from the governor.
Most people will think that it is their destiny.
Most people will stop moving forward.
But Sanders had a motive - a deep one.
It's not about money,
It's not about fame,
He just wanted to share his fried chicken with the whole world, the one recipe that he had tried to make perfect for so many years.
He has believed in his recipe so much that he travelled long distances at that age, going from restaurant to restaurant to ask for at least trying his recipe once, but he failed again and again.
He did everything to make his recipe known among the people for its delicious taste.
He sold his recipe for free to people,
He went from door to door knocking,
Some people complimented, while others never replied, and some opened the door for him, while others thought he was a creepy old man with lots of hope.
Some people laugh,
Some were shocked by seeing his dedication,
Some people said it will never work,
Some people said he is too old to do this, all he should stop.
While some said it's JUST A WASTE OF TIME.
But he NEVER STOPPED MOVING FORWARD because his "WHY" was very, very strong, which made him stand again and again he fell.
And one day, he found his destiny in the name "KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN(KFC)".
When your motive is strong, age doesn’t matter. Rejections don’t matter. Circumstances don’t matter. Only your “why” matters.
Why do motives change everything?
Motive changes everything because it reveals character, determines the moral value of action, and fundamentally shapes the long-term outcome of a person's behaviours and relationships.
1.) Motive Gives You Direction.
Without a proper motive, it becomes impossible to finish one task after starting. We jump from one goal to another.
A strong motive acts like a compass.
Ask yourself
=> Why am I doing this?
=> What do I want to achieve?
=> Where do I want to reach?
When Your Motive Is Clear, your direction becomes clear to you.
2.) Motive Makes You Consistent.
"I am not doing this for fun; I am doing this because it matters to me."
Consistency becomes easier when you have a reason bigger than your excuses.
3.) Motive Helps You Handle Failure.
When things go wrong, people with weak motives tend to quit, while those with strong motives try again.
Because their purpose is stronger than their pain.
Ask yourself
Your Answers Are Your Motive
4.) Motive Builds Identity.
- If your motive is learning, you become a student of life.
- If your motive is health, you become a disciplined person.
- If your motive is success, you become focused.
Your identity is the outcome of your motive.
Questions You Must Ask Yourself Now.
- What is the real reason behind my goal?
- Will this motive of yours survive hard days?
- If no one is watching me, would I still want this?
- What will happen if I DON'T achieve this?
- Who will I become if I am loyal to this motive?
Write your Answer somewhere very secretly because this will guide you until the last day when you become something.
How to build a story motive?
Building a strong motive in life involves a combination of self-reflection, goal-setting, discipline, and cultivating a supportive environment.
